My name is Michael Bell. I’m an unemployed 30-something-year-old American living in Paris with a student visa. Not a bad gig, right?
I started this blog as a pseudo-website for an “English language consultancy” business I thought I could start to make a little money while living the expatriate dream in the City of Light. (To see what hilarious translation error on a French menu sparked this brainchild, click here.) As it turns out, however, it’s not as easy to do that as I had hoped so “je parle américain” has become my online diary and — hopefully — an online repository of both useful and useless information for all of you whether you’re coming to Paris for a vacation or planning a more permanent move.
